All-Natural Laundry Routine
Just like the cleaning cupboards in my home, I also prefer to make my own laundry products. For an all-natural laundry routine, try making your own homemade laundry detergent.
For non-toxic bleach applications, try making your own bleach alternative.
And of course, now you can try making your own homemade stain remover spray, below.
Find more details about how to have an all-natural and non-toxic laundry routine in this Guide to Natural Cleaning.

Supplies Needed
- Amber Glass Spray Bottle: A 4 oz. amber glass spray bottle is the perfect size for this recipe. You will want to use amber glass so that the hydrogen peroxide will stay intact and light will not break it down. Label the bottle with this affordable non-electric label maker!
Ingredients
- Hydrogen Peroxide: You’ll need 3 oz. of hydrogen peroxide 3%.
- Castile Soap: You’ll need 1 oz. of Castile soap.

Directions
- Add both ingredients to the spray bottle and swirl to combine.
- To use, spray liberally onto the stain (either an old or a fresh stain). Allow to sit for at least a couple of minutes before washing as usual.
- For extra tough stains, sprinkle the area with baking soda before spraying liberally with stain spray. Allow to sit for at least 30 minutes before washing as usual.

Uses for Homemade Stain Remover
You can use this stain spray on almost any type of stain. The hydrogen peroxide works as an oxygen bleach, which is non-toxic and safe for use on both colored and white fabrics. The Castile soap works as a degreaser. This means that it is effective on almost any type of stain or spill on clothing, furniture, and more! Always spot-check before spraying onto new fabrics.
Try it on:
- Food stains
- Drink spills
- Grass stains
- Grease spots
- Blood spots
- Carpet stains
- Furniture stains and spills

Is this homemade stain remover safe for colored clothes?
Yes! Because hydrogen peroxide is an oxygen bleach and not a chlorine bleach, this means that it is safe for use on all colors, including brights, darks, lights, and whites. As always, spot test the spray on an inconspicuous area before use if you are unsure about a fabric.
How do you remove tough stains?
For extra tough stains (such as grass stains), you will want to use a two-step system. First, sprinkle the entire area with baking soda. Then, spray your homemade stain remover liberally until all of the baking soda is soaked through. Allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes before washing as usual.

Is this product safe for color clothes? And can the product sit for a 24+ hours on the clothes b4 washing and be safe???
Hi Tasha, thanks for the questions! Yes this product is safe for most color clothes. This is because it uses oxygen to lift stains rather than bleach. However, if it is a treasured piece, I recommend that you always recommended to patch test on an inconspicuous area just in case!
As far as soaking for 24+ hours, I have never done that personally, but I believe that it would be just fine! Once the peroxide is done fizzing though, it has essentially broken down into water and oxygen. This means that once it has stopped fizzing (usually done by the time a standard washing machine soak cycle is done), it has completed its job. And the only way to get more benefit out of it would be to add more of the homemade bleach alternative to the soak.
I hope this helps!
