Thank you for visiting Every Purpose Home, home of The Sourdough Cookie Lady! I share my recipes to help you bake with confidence. Lots of people visit the Site every day, and because I can’t know each of you personally, I have to put some Terms and Conditions in place to keep things running smoothly.
When I say “I,” “me,” or “my” in this document, I mean Every Purpose Home and Marlene, the person behind it. When I say the “Site,” I mean everypurposehome.com and its content, emails, and social media accounts. When I say “you,” I mean anyone who visits or uses the Site.
I may update these Terms in the future. Whenever I make a significant change, I’ll refresh the date at the top of this page. When you use the Site, now or in the future, you’re agreeing to the latest Terms, along with my Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Affiliate Disclosure. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site. There may be times when I don’t exercise or enforce a right or provision of these Terms; that doesn’t mean I’m waiving it. These Terms do contain a limitation of my liability.
Using the Site
- The Site is intended for people 13 and older. If you’re under 18, please use the Site with a parent or guardian’s permission.
- You may not use the Site for anything illegal, to harm the Site or other visitors, to try to gain unauthorized access, or to introduce viruses or malicious code.
- You must be a human. Comments, sign-ups, or messages submitted by “bots” or other automated methods aren’t permitted.
Copyright and content ownership
- All content on the Site, including recipes, recipe text, photographs, videos, graphics, logos, and written posts, is owned by Every Purpose Home or used with permission, and is protected by U.S. copyright law.
- Bake and sell! You’re welcome to use my recipes to bake for your family and friends, and to bake and sell what you make, whether that’s at a farmstand, bake sale, farmers market, micro-bakery, or your own small business. That’s part of why I share them! A shout-out or a link back is always appreciated but never required. If you sell baked goods, you’re responsible for following your local cottage food laws, labeling (including allergens), and food safety requirements. If you bake and sell using my recipes, you do so entirely at your own risk, and you are fully and solely responsible for your business and everything you make, sell, or serve. That includes complying with cottage food laws, licensing, permits, health codes, taxes, ingredient and allergen labeling, and food safety, as well as any illness, allergic reaction, injury, complaint, or legal claim related to your baked goods. Every Purpose Home and Marlene are not liable for anything relating to your business or the products you sell, and you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any such claims.
- Sharing a recipe? Share the link. If you want to share one of my recipes with someone, please send them the link to the recipe post instead of copying or retyping the recipe text. You’re also welcome to print recipes to use in your own kitchen or bakery, pin my images to Pinterest, share links to my posts on social media, and share one photo on your own website or social media with a clear credit and a link back to the original post.
- Please don’t, without my written permission: copy, republish, or redistribute my recipe text, photos, or written content, in full or in part, anywhere else (including other websites, social media posts or captions, apps, books, printed handouts, or publications); remove watermarks or alter my photos; use my photos to advertise or sell your own products; or use my name, logo, or brand in a way that suggests I endorse you or your business.
- You may not use my content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models, or copy the Site’s content in bulk with automated tools. Search engines and AI search tools that index my pages and link back to them are welcome.
- If you’d like to use my content in another way, I’d love to hear from you! Just ask through my contact page. I reserve the right to rescind any permission if these Terms are violated.
Comments and ratings
- When you leave a comment or recipe rating, it should be your own honest opinion and experience, and it can’t be abusive, hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, defamatory, spam, or include personal information about other people.
- I don’t pre-screen every comment, but I reserve the right (but not the obligation) to moderate, edit for length or clarity, decline, or remove any comment at my discretion.
- You keep ownership of what you write, but by submitting a comment, you give me a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and use it on the Site and in connection with my content.
- Comments reflect the views of the people who wrote them, not mine.
Recipes and results
I test my recipes carefully, but I can’t guarantee your results. Ingredients, equipment, altitude, ovens, technique, and your sourdough starter can all make a difference. Please read my Disclaimer for important information about allergies, nutrition, food safety, and homemade natural products.
Ads, affiliate links, and sponsored content
The Site displays ads and contains affiliate links, and may occasionally include sponsored content, which will always be clearly disclosed. See my Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Links to other websites
The Site may link to websites I don’t own or control. I’m not responsible for their content, products, policies, or practices, and a link doesn’t mean I endorse them.
Email list
If you join my email list, you agree to receive emails from me. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
Changes to the Site
I reserve the right to modify, update, or remove any part of the Site or its content at any time, with or without notice.
Uptime and the Site “as is”
Your use of the Site is at your sole risk. The Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I do my best to keep everything accurate and running smoothly, but I don’t guarantee the Site will always be available or error-free.
Liability
I mention liability throughout these Terms, but to put it all in one section:
You expressly understand and agree that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Every Purpose Home and Marlene shall not be liable, in law or in equity, to you or to any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, or for any personal injury, illness, or allergic reaction (even if I have been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from: (i) the use or the inability to use the Site; (ii) any recipe, product, or information found on or through the Site; (iii) any goods or services purchased through links on the Site; (iv) statements or conduct of any third party on the Site; or (v) any other matter relating to these Terms or the Site, whether based on breach of contract, tort (including negligence), or any other theory of liability.
You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Every Purpose Home and Marlene from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Site, your comments, or your violation of these Terms. Some states don’t allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
In other words: I put a lot of care into every recipe and post, but when you bake, build, or try something you found here, you’re doing it at your own risk and using your own good judgment.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee. If you have a concern, please contact me first so we can try to resolve it informally. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect.

Making original work is hard! If you’re a copyright owner and believe content on the Site infringes your work, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) gives you the right to notify me. To be effective, the notice must be written and include:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work(s) you believe have been infringed.
- A way for me to locate the material you believe is infringing (such as the page URL).
- Your name and contact information. Email address is preferred.
- A statement that you, in good faith, believe the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
If you believe material was removed in error, you can send a written counter-notification with the same contact details, a description of the material and where it appeared, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake.
Send notices by email to contact@everypurposehome.com.
