All-Natural 6 Product Skincare Routine

Switching to natural skincare is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get rid of unneeded toxins in your life. Buying natural skincare (and even making your own) can often be more cost-effective than ordinary brand-name skincare products too. So there’s no need to put off switching your products! Keep reading to learn what I use in my all-natural skincare routine, and why it works, below!

Face Wash

Out of all of the skincare products that I use, I feel like finding the perfect face wash was the hardest to nail down. This is because I was very picky about what I needed it to do. I wanted it to remove makeup, deeply cleanse my skin, help to prevent acne, but most importantly do all of this without stripping my skin and drying it out.

I finally found a face wash that checked all of these boxes. That’s the doTERRA Facial Cleanser.

How I Use doTERRA’s Facial Cleanser

I wash my face every morning. This is because when we sleep, our skin is pressed into a pillow all night, and could use a refresh before the day begins.

Something I learned years ago that made so much sense is that if you wear makeup, you should be washing your face twice in the evening. Some people choose to do this by using a makeup remover and then a cleanser. I like to keep it simple though, so I use my facial cleanser for both washes!

Why I Use doTERRA’s Facial Cleanser

  • Daily facial cleansing is vital for an all-natural skincare routine
  • It’s enriched with natural cleansers
  • It contains essential oils that help to deeply cleanse the skin
  • It’s clarifying without drying
  • It contains Vitamin E to support healthy skin
  • It leaves the skin glowing but not oily

Daytime Moisturizer

I used to think that a moisturizer had to be a store-bought product, whether it was natural or not. I also thought that people with acne-prone skin had to find something that was “oil-free”. Little did I know that these are common misconceptions!

For my daytime moisturizer, I use Jojoba Oil. That’s it.

It’s clearly not “oil-free”, and it’s certainly not some expensive, brand-name, claiming-to-be-a-miracle-in-a-bottle product. It’s one single ingredient, yet it’s more effective than any store-bought moisturizer I’ve ever used.

I currently use Eden’s Garden Jojoba Oil because I love the pump, but I’ve also used Now Solutions Organic Jojoba Oil and loved it as well. There’s not a quality difference in my opinion.

How I Use Jojoba Oil

I use jojoba oil every morning immediately after I’ve washed my face. It’s best to use when your skin is still damp and your pores are still open.

If you are going to wear makeup that day, make sure you do not put the jojoba oil on or around your eyes. This is because it can break down your mascara and cause the dreaded raccoon eye look throughout the day! Which, side note, makes jojoba oil a wonderful makeup remover (even for waterproof makeup!).

Jojoba oil sinks into the skin quickly once applied. I wait at least 5 minutes before applying my makeup after I’ve applied my jojoba oil!

Why I Use Jojoba Oil

  • It won’t clog pores
  • It’s moisturizing
  • It is a natural antibacterial (great for acne-prone skin)
  • It regulates oil production (sebum) because it mimics your body’s natural oils
  • It naturally contains Vitamin E which promotes healthy skin
  • It soothes dry patches and eczema
  • It’s hypoallergenic
  • It reduces and helps to prevent wrinkles over time
  • It works with the skin’s natural pH balance

Nighttime Moisturizer

My nighttime moisturizer is where my skin gets a deep conditioning treatment! Every time I use my nighttime moisturizer, I wake up with supple and glowing skin! I also love that I make it myself, so I know exactly what’s in it.

You can find my DIY Face and Body Moisturizer recipe here!

How I Use My DIY Face and Body Moisturizer

I apply my moisturizer over my entire face, including my eyelids, eyebrows, and eyelashes! It helps even to condition hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes.

It sinks into the skin after a few minutes. Because of the thickness of the shea butter, I find that I prefer to use this moisturizer at night instead of under makeup.

Why I Use My DIY Face and Body Moisturizer

  • It’s naturally antibacterial and antifungal
  • It’s deeply moisturizing
  • It contains natural antioxidants, aiding in cell turnover
  • Soothes common ailments such as sunburns, scars, bug bites, and eczema
  • It smooths fine lines and wrinkles over time

Sunscreen

Sun exposure over time creates pigmented areas on the skin. These areas are called hyperpigmentation, and they can darken over time.

I wish that I had learned sooner that you should use sunscreen every day, even on days when you’re not leaving the house! I had so much hyperpigmentation (from sun exposure on my acne spots) that would likely not have been there if I had started using sunscreen sooner.

This is why I started using facial sunscreen every single day! I use the Coppertone Pure & Simple Face Mineral Sun Protection. It’s very budget-friendly, has an SPF of 50, and most importantly is made with Zinc Oxide (a physical sunscreen instead of a chemical one).

How I Use Coppertone Mineral Sun Protection

When the sunscreen is first applied, it will leave a very light and white cast on the skin, but that starts to dissipate after a few minutes.

I use this sunscreen every morning, and I avoid putting it near my eyes (just like the jojoba oil).

Why I Use Coppertone Mineral Sun Protection

  • It’s made with zinc oxide (a physical sun barrier rather than chemical, which is important for an all-natural skincare routine)
  • It’s very budget-friendly
  • It lasts a long time
  • It’s hypoallergenic
  • It is all-natural
  • It provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection
  • It’s water-resistant
  • It lays nicely under makeup, and it never flakes or rubs off throughout the day

Acne Treatment

I’ve had acne troubles for about as long as I can remember! Probably since I was a young teenager. Over the years, I have learned that there are several things that trigger my acne, and avoiding those things can keep it at bay for the most part.

One of the main causes of acne for me was harsh skincare products. Did you know that anti-acne products have the potential to cause acne? Crazy right?! Basically, mainstream acne products aim to dry out acne and pimples. The downside is that they dry the skin out too. And what happens when our skin is dry? Our body produces more oil to moisten the skin. And guess what too much of that oil can cause? Acne.

It’s a vicious cycle.

My way out of that was to cold-turkey stop all mainstream acne treatment products! No more salicylic acid and no more benzoyl peroxide (which have no place in an all-natural skincare routine).

Instead, when I get a pimple, I use my homemade acne treatment roller bottle!

Homemade Acne Treatment: Add 5 drops of tea tree oil to an essential oil 10ml roller bottle. Fill the remainder of the bottle with jojoba oil. Shake to distribute. It’s now ready to use as needed!

How I Use My Acne Treatment Roller Bottle

Because acne spots often contain bacteria, it’s not recommended that the roller bottle actually come into contact with the spots. Instead, it is best to roll the oil onto a clean finger, and then dab it onto the spots.

When needed, I apply my acne treatment to the pimples each evening until they’re gone!

Why I Use My Acne Treatment Roller Bottle

  • Tea tree oil is known to help heal and prevent acne, and is as effective as benzoyl peroxide at doing so, according to Healthline
  • Tea tree oil is an antiseptic, making it great at killing the acne germs, for quick healing and stopping the spread of acne
  • It’s an antioxidant, which boosts the healing of acne spots

Lip Balm

Have you ever heard that diamonds are a girl’s best friend? Well, whoever wrote that has never heard of lip balm!

I can’t go anywhere without my lip balm, which is why I buy it in a 6 pack. I keep one with my skincare, one in my purse, one on my side table, one on my desk, and one in the car.

My all-time favorite lip balm is the Eco Lips Mongo Kiss Lip Balm because it actually moisturizes the lips instead of just making them feel good while it’s on! The peppermint option is my favorite because it smells so fresh. This is probably my most used product out of my all-natural skincare routine!

How I Use Eco Lips Mongo Kiss Lip Balm

I swipe it on whenever I feel like it! I even use it under my makeup lip products as well.

Why I Use Eco Lips Mongo Kiss Lip Balm

  • It’s 100% organic
  • It’s deeply moisturizing
  • It feels great on the lips
  • It smells refreshing

Extras

The “extras” are anything that I use or do for my face that is not a product! These are things that I like to do occasionally but are not part of my daily routine.

a woman is holding a facial razor

I Shave My Face

The first time I heard of a woman shaving her face, I thought it was the craziest thing that I had ever heard! I thought about it for over a year before I decided to go for it.

Now that I’ve tried it, I’m never looking back!

When my face is shaved, there is no peach fuzz on my skin to get in the way. This makes my face feel smooth, my skin glow more, and my skincare goes on as smoothly as possible.

I use the Schick Hydro Silk Touch-Up Razors to shave my entire face. I use small, short, and careful downward strokes over my entire face to remove peach fuzz. I am very careful not to touch my eyebrows or eyelashes.

I would say that I typically shave 1-2 times a month. Facial hair often grows slower than the hair on your legs, so you likely won’t have to shave as often as you do everywhere else!

I Massage My Face

This is one of the things that I like to do in the shower when I wash my face some evenings. I use the blunt part of my fingertips to gently but deeply massage my entire face as I wash it. Doing this occasionally is so easy to add to your all-natural skincare routine.

This improves circulation in the face. Improved circulation helps to produce more elastin and collagen, which are keys to having firm and youthful skin over time.
