I used to think that makeup ingredients didn’t matter. I had switched my skincare, my household cleaners, and so many other things in my life to all-natural options. But I always thought that makeup just sat on my skin. How could that be harmful? It wasn’t until I learned that what goes on your skin goes in your skin, that I realized I needed to pay attention to the makeup that I was using. That’s why I switched to an all-natural makeup routine! Find out what I use and why I like it below.
Foundation
If you had told me a few years ago that I would be using a powder foundation, I would have never believed you! I always thought that powder foundations were cakey, looked unnatural, and had poor coverage.
Now that I’ve found Burt’s Bees Mattifying Powder Foundation, I am a believer that powder foundation can be beautiful and look natural!
How I Use Burt’s Bees Powder Foundation
I use a dense foundation buffing brush to apply my foundation. Then, once I’ve applied a layer over my entire face (including my eyelids), I get an eyeshadow-sized brush and use that with the same foundation as a spot concealer. I’ll apply it to acne spots, and also underneath my eyes to cover dark circles.
Why I Use Burt’s Bees Powder Foundation
- It’s of 100% natural origin
- It matches my skin tone perfectly
- It never looks cakey
- It’s lightweight
- It has good coverage
- It absorbs oil but doesn’t dry the skin out
Eyeshadow
One of the things I was most concerned about when switching to natural makeup was eyeshadow. I have always loved having beautiful eyeshadow palettes with great pigmentation, and I was worried that switching to an all-natural makeup routine would not meet those same standards.
I had tried other natural brands in the past with no success. However, I finally found a beautiful palette that has gorgeous colors and the same pigmentation quality as name-brand options! It’s the Pacifica Beauty Pink Nudes Mineral Eyeshadow Palette.
How I Use Pacifica Beauty’s Pink Nudes Mineral Eyeshadow Palette
I use my eyeshadow brush to apply any of the colors that I choose to use that day to my eyelids.
To fill in my eyebrows, I apply the deeper brown color with the angled end of my eyeshadow brush. I have also used that same color and brush to line my eyes for a soft, defined look.
Why I Use Pacifica Beauty’s Pink Nudes Mineral Eyeshadow Palette
- There are 10 different color options in one palette
- The colors are highly pigmented
- The colors look natural and blend well together
- The eyeshadow doesn’t crease
- I can do my eyebrows and eyelids with just one palette
Eyeliner
On special occasions, I like to apply eyeliner to define my eyes. My favorite natural eyeliner that I have found is the Burt’s Bees Defining Retractable Eyeliner. I love that I don’t have to sharpen it either since it twists up.
How I Use Burt’s Bees Defining Retractable Eyeliner
I use a light hand to carefully line my eyes when I want extra definition on special occasions.
Why I Use Burt’s Bees Defining Retractable Eyeliner
- It’s smooth and doesn’t tug at the eyes
- It doesn’t smudge
- It is very pigmented
- I never have to sharpen it
- They offer softer colors that look more natural
Mascara
I have used the same mascara for many years now. It is not waterproof (which means it washes off easily) but it does stay put all day! It doesn’t flake off, it’s budget-friendly, and it gives my eyelashes fullness without clumping. My favorite is the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara. And contrary to its name, it looks pretty natural when you only use one coat.
How I Use Essence Lash Princess Mascara
I simply apply the mascara after my eyeshadow. I only use one coat to make it as natural as possible.
Why I Use Essence Lash Princess Mascara
- It stays put all day
- It never flakes
- It’s budget-friendly
- It doesn’t contain harmful ingredients
- It doesn’t clump
Blush
Blush is one of those things that I used to think wasn’t necessary since I blush often naturally. However, I have since learned how much brighter my face looks when the cheeks are just a little rosy! I’m so glad that I added this to my all-natural makeup routine.
Because I use a powder foundation, I prefer a powder blush to go on top. My favorite blush is the Burt’s Bees Natural Blush.
How I Use Burt’s Bees Natural Blush
I use my fluffy blush brush, gently dip it in the blush, and then bounce it onto the apples of my cheeks. A little of this blush goes a long way since it’s so beautifully pigmented!
Why I Use Burt’s Bees Natural Blush
- It’s 100% natural
- It is healthy for the skin with Vitamin E
- It’s beautifully pigmented
- It looks natural
- It stays put all day long
Lip Color
Finding the perfect your-lips-but-better shade is my favorite way to brighten up the face! I am not really adventurous with lip colors. I actually wear the same shade basically every day.
My favorite is the Burt’s Bees Squeezy Tinted Balm in the color Berry Sorbet. It is moisturizing, looks natural, and smells amazing!
How I Use Burt’s Bees Squeezy Tinted Balm
I squeeze a small amount onto the tip of my finger, and I rub it onto my lips as needed.
I would like to note that because this is a lip balm and not a lipstick, it doesn’t last all day. However, I am willing to reapply as necessary because I just love the color and formula. I sometimes keep an extra in my purse for on-the-go use!
Why I Use Burt’s Bees Squeezy Tinted Balm
- It is of 100% natural origin
- The color matches my lips perfectly
- It smells great
- It’s deeply moisturizing
